We are pleased to announce the publication of a new book!

Story by

Dragonsblood is at once a story of persistence and courage,
a fable about ecology, and an epic tale that spans continents and centuries.
It begins with a group of children battling a dragon in medieval Europe
and ends with the aftermath of a disastrous oil spill in Alaska.
Are those two events, so distant in time and space, somehow connected?
Can a dragon be slain, or must he be overcome time and again?

Recommended for readers nine and older . . . including adults.
Teachers:
Dragonsblood is suitable as a class reader.

“Years ago, I heard a story that Eugene Schwartz told during a lecture.
I remembered that it was brilliant. It was a story about a dragon, naturally,
and was used to “explain” and bring solace about a then-recent
environmental disaster -- the Exxon-Valdez. I wonder if it has ever been published.
If not, it should be -- I would enjoy reading it. I am not saying this because
I need such a story but because, not to be overly dramatic, the world does.
Recently I listened to an NPR program about the environmental challenges
of today and the future. The commentator said something profound that we
in Waldorf education know only too well -- that imaginative stories,
not scientific facts and figures, move people more quickly and heartily to
change their ways. Then I thought of Eugene’s story and wondered
what became of it. It was such a gem that I hope that it will
be present on the library shelves soon!
Thank you, Eugene, for bringing light to the world.”

Isolde Perry, Waldorf Educator

The powerful themes of Eugene Schwartz’s story are enhanced by Kris Carlson’s dramatic
